Michael Longley CBE (27 July 1939 – 22 January 2025) was a Northern Irish poet.[1] During his career, he won the Whitbread Poetry Prize, the T. S. Eliot Prize and the Hawthornden Prize. He was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Longley died from problems caused by hip surgery at a hospital in Belfast on 22 January 2025, at the age of 85.[1][2][3]
