Mobile (English pronunciation: /moʊˈbiːl/) is a city and the county seat of Mobile County in the U.S. state of Alabama. The population within the city limits was 187,041 as of the 2020 census,[5] but was increased to 204,689 after it annexed areas west of the city, which makes it the second-most populous city in Alabama.[10]

It is at the head of Mobile Bay. Mobile is the principal municipality of the Mobile–Pensacola Metropolitan Statistical Area, a region of 430,197 residents which is composed of Mobile and Washington counties and is the third largest MSA in the state.[7] Mobile Mobile is included in the Mobile–Daphne–Fairhope Combined Statistical Area with a total population of 661,964, the second largest CSA fully in the state.[8]
