Mount Damavand is the tallest mountain in Iran and Western Asia, and the tallest volcano in Asia, and the third tallest volcano in the Eastern Hemisphere (after Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Elbrus), at 5,610 metres (18,410 ft) in total elevation. Mount Damavand is a dormant volcano in northern Iran about 66 kilometres (41 mi) northeast of Iran's capital city of Tehran.
