Markus Alexej Persson (born 1 June 1979), better known as Notch, is a Swedish game designer. He is famous for creating the video game Minecraft.[1] Persson started the company Mojang AB in 2009. On September 15, 2014, he announced that he would be leaving the company, and soon after he left.[2]

He sold the company to Microsoft for $2.5 billion, making him a billionaire. In 2025, Forbes estimated his net worth at $1.2 billion.[3]
