Project Tiger is a tiger conservation programme launched on April 1, 1973 by the Government of India. The project aims to help a viable population for the Bengal Tiger in its natural habitats, protecting it from being wiped out and preserving areas that are important to biology as a natural heritage that represents diversity within the ecosystems across the tiger's range in India.
