Rustenburg (Afrikaans and Dutch: City of Rest) is a city in North West province, South Africa. It is at the foot of the Magaliesberg mountain range. In 2011, 549,575 people lived there, which makes it the largest city in North West province by population. It has a football stadium called Royal Bafokeng Stadium.

Rustenburg was founded in 1851, as an administrative centre for an farming area that grows citrus fruit, tobacco, peanuts, sunflower seeds, corn and wheat. Platinum mining starts in 1929, which was discovered by Hans Merensky.
