  • Serial communication: a computer connection that moves pieces of information one at a time.
  • Movie serial: a short movie that has chapters that come one after the other shown with a bigger film, first shown around 1930 and 1940
  • Serial killer: someone who murdered people at different times
  • Serialism: a way of ordering notes in music
  • Serial (publishing): the publication of a journal in separate parts under the same title. Example: Nature (journal).
  • Serial (literature) often a work of narrative fiction published in sequential installments.
  • Serial (radio and television), series of radio and television programs that rely on a continuing plot
