Shere Hite (born as Shirley Diana Gregory; November 2, 1942 – September 9, 2020) was an American and a German feminist and sexologist. She was known for her research on women's orgasms. The Hite Report: A Nationwide Study of Female Sexuality was published in 1976. The report is Hite's most famous work.

Early life
Hite was born in St. Joseph, Missouri. She received her masters degree in History from the University of Florida in 1967. She then moved to New York City.
Personal life
In 1985 Hite married Friedrich Horicke, a German concert pianist.[1] The couple divorced in 1999.
She moved to Germany in 1989 and became a German citizen in 1996. She isn't an American citizen anymore.
Hite died on September 9, 2020 in London from problems caused by Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, aged 77.[2]
