In North America, a single room occupancy (often abbreviated as SRO) is a kind of apartment that is only one room and doesn't have a bathroom or kitchen. Buildings with SROs sometimes have one or two shared bathrooms on each floor. Single room occupancies are usually for people with very low incomes.
