A syndicate is a self organization group of people or companies. These people or companies co-operate because they have a common goal. Examples are:

  • In 1906, the Confédération Générale du Travail adopted the Charter of Amiens. Confédération Générale du Travail is often shortened to CGT. it is one of five confederations of trade unions in France, and still exists today.
  • Companies working together to get better prices, or condition is called a cartel. Banks working together that way usually do this in a consortium.
  • Criminals working together often also do this in a syndicate.
