Tassili n'Ajjer

Tassili n'Ajjer is a mountain range in the Algerian part of the Sahara Desert. The name means "Plateau of the Rivers". It 72,000 km². large. The range is mostly made of sandstone.

It is a World Heritage Site in Africa because of the prehistoric rock art found there. The art depicts herds of cattle, large wild animals including crocodiles, and human activities such as hunting and dancing.

The nearest town is Djanet. It is about 10 km southwest of the range.
