A tile-matching video game is a type of puzzle game where players combine game pieces, for example, "gems" or "tiles," on a row or grid to make groups of identical items. Matching requires at least three tiles of similar shape, color, or type to progress through a puzzle or accumulate points.

While all match-3 games are considered tile-matching puzzle games, the reverse is not always true.
