Anton Hulman "Tony" George (born December 30, 1959) is the former Chairman, President, and CEO of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Hulman & Company, serving from 1989 to 2009. George also helped bring Formula 1 to Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The first Formula 1 race took place in 2000; a separate circuit was built within the oval for this purpose. In addition to the merits of the track, Tony George also founded the Indy Racing League (IRL) as a competitor to the then IndyCar World Series
