Tento podcelok leží v severozápadnej časti pohoria medzi Spišskou Novou Vsou a Dobšinou.[2] Na severozápade susedí so Slovenským rajom (podcelok Spišsko-gemerského krasu), na západe so Stolicou (podcelok Stolických vrchov) a na juhozápade s Dobšinským predhorím, patriacim do Revúckej vrchoviny. Južným a východným smerom pokračujú Volovské vrchy podcelkami Knola a Hnilecké vrchy, na severozápade územie klesá do Hornádskej kotliny a jej podcelku Hornádske podolie.[1]
