初依叔父沖，沖遇弒，遂與叔父柔及弟東歸。寶即位，進爵長樂王。寶為蘭汗所弒，盛起兵斬汗。即皇帝位，改元建平。翌年，貶號為庶人天王，改元長樂。長樂三年崩，諡昭武皇帝，廟號中宗。
