英里

英里（英语：mile）是使用于英国、美国、前英国殖民地和英联邦国家的长度单位。 1 英里相当于 1760 码，也等同于 5280 英尺，1959 年相关国家约定。（英语：international yard and pound）

没有统一符号，有mi, ml, m, M等用法，美国国家标准技术研究所现在推荐使用mi^[1]^[2]。

使用情况

在香港，“哩”有时亦写作“咪”（mile的音译）。“咪”现在香港已极少用于表示距离，但在少部分地方仍保留作地方名，如“青山公路8咪半”^[3]，即路离青山公路起始8英里半的地方。英文名称在此情况下会写作milestone（里程碑），如右方图所示：“18¾ Milestone, Castle Peak Road”。

“哩”在香港日常及台湾翻译品上仍广泛使用。中国大陆地区在1977年7月20日，中国文字改革委员会、国家标准计量局联合发出的《关于部分计量单位名称统一用字的通知》规定仅用“英里”，淘汰“哩”。
