苏丹伊斯梅尔

永恒的柔佛苏丹伊斯迈，已故伟大的苏丹易卜拉欣爵士之子 KBE CMG（马来语：Sultan Ismail Al Khalidi Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Sir Ibrahim Al-Masyhur），简称苏丹伊斯迈（马来语：Sultan Ismail I），现代柔佛及天猛公家族的第三任苏丹，柔佛第23任苏丹。苏丹易卜拉欣一世及苏丹后奥恩姑麦姆娜·宾蒂·奥恩姑阿卜杜勒马吉德之子。前苏丹苏丹马目·伊斯坎德尔之父，现苏丹苏丹易卜拉欣·伊斯梅尔祖父。尊号永恒的（马来语：Al Khalidi）。

摄政王储

其父亲苏丹易卜拉欣多次到外国探访旅行，东古伊斯迈在1928年被委任为柔佛摄政王。在日本入侵马来半岛时，东古伊斯迈逃往英国，以避免日本操控他并代替其父亲成为苏丹。

苏丹生涯

1959年5月8日，伊斯迈的父亲苏丹易卜拉欣一世驾崩。伊斯迈成为柔佛苏丹，并于1959年11月2日在新山大皇宫加冕。众所周知，苏丹与他的臣民非常亲近; 他每年都会访问柔佛州所有八个地区的选定村庄，并经常结识为州政府工作的公务员。

王位继承

1961年8月10日，他废除了行为不当的长子，时任王储东古马目·伊斯坎德尔的王储位。次子东古·阿卜杜勒·拉赫曼继承了王储位。但在1981年四月时，苏丹死的前一个月，苏丹伊斯迈重新任命东古马目·伊斯坎德尔为王储。5月苏丹驾崩，东古马目·伊斯坎德尔继承王位，成为第四任苏丹。

个人生活

苏丹伊斯迈生性温顺安静，并且是一位动物爱好者，在建立新山动物园方面发挥了重要的作用。他收藏了鹿、鳄鱼的野生动物。在华人社区，他被亲切的称呼为老苏丹（Lau Sultan）^[1]。苏丹伊斯迈有过两次婚姻，两位妻子都获得了苏丹后的头衔：

• 第一任妻子：苏丹后奥恩姑·敦阿米娜·宾蒂·奥恩姑艾哈迈德（1905年2月5日-1977年9月14日，死于车祸^[2]），两人共育有7个孩子，有3个活到成年。

1977年8月，苏丹伊斯梅尔和他的妻子苏丹后奥恩姑·敦阿米娜·宾蒂·奥恩姑艾哈迈德在古来遭遇车祸。在这场车祸中苏丹后的发簪刺入她的头部，让她一直处于植物人状态，直到一个月后因脑损伤去世，而苏丹只受了轻伤。苏丹伊斯梅尔于 1977年11月与东古诺拉再婚。东古诺拉随后于1978年10月加冕为苏丹后。^[7]

1975年,马来西亚工艺大学成立，苏丹伊斯迈是该校的第一任校长。^[1]

驾崩身后

1981年5月10日，苏丹伊斯迈在苏丹娜阿米娜医院驾崩，享年86岁。他的死讯由时任柔佛州务大臣奥斯曼·萨特宣布。隔天，王储东古马目·伊斯坎德尔继位，成为第4任柔佛苏丹。
