托马斯·林赛 (学者)

托马斯·K·林赛（英语：Thomas K. Lindsay）是一位美国教育家与学者，前夏默学院院长^[1]。他曾是美国人文科学基金会（NEH）的代理会长，直至2008年12月卸任为止。他也是NEH基金计画“我们人民（We the People）”的首倡理事，该计画为探索美国历史与文化等重要事件与主题的相关研究与其他活动，也阐述美国原则的前瞻知识。林赛是在芝加哥大学取得他的哲学博士学位。其研究大半集中在民主与教育两者的关联性。他的论文曾发表在《美国政治科学评论》、《政治学期刊》与《美国政治科学期刊》。

1999年，林赛成为北爱荷华州大学的政治科学教授，并赢得Pi Sigma Alpha/美国政治科学协会“杰出教学奖”。同年，受达拉斯大学提名为研究生院院长与哲学研究学院院长，随后升格为教务长^[2]。

2005年，托马斯·林赛成为教务长，以及有执行权的塞顿霍尔大学副校长^[2]。

院长任内

2009年1月，托马斯·林赛正式成为夏默学院的院长，这是一所入学人数只比100位学生多出一点的名著学院^[1]。他接下来的任职期间内，由于两项争议形成污点，一是他的谋略手段，二是对学校的长远计画^[3]。争议首次爆发，起因是托马斯·林赛雇用新进的注册主任，而这件事处理完后，根据艾伯特· 费尔南德斯教授的说法“内部丝毫没有经过任何商量”^[4]。

2010年4月18日，夏默学院校董会进行投票，解除了托马斯·林赛的院长职务^[5][6]。是经教师及与会人士一致通过不信任投票的不久后，这件事就朝这方向演变^[5]。夏默后来发布一则新闻稿，感谢林赛过去对学院健全的财务管理，并解决残留下来的赤字问题^[6][7]。
