种系发生学

外类群

丝蛱蝶亚科曾经被归入线蛱蝶亚科。Wahlberg et al.(2003, 2005)的分子数据研究指出此分类与蛱蝶亚科、闪蛱蝶亚科、苾蛱蝶亚科和秀蛱蝶亚科有更密切的亲缘关系，并独立成为一个亚科。

内类群

丝蛱蝶亚科有3个属，Wahlberg et al. (2005)指出坎蛱蝶属和丝蛱蝶属是相互的姐妹群，而凤蛱蝶属是它们两属的姐妹群。
