生平

1912年，費勒出生於美國自治領地波多黎各聖胡安，母親瑪利亞（Maria Providencia Cintron），父親拉斐爾·費勒（Rafael Ferrer），父親是律師和詩人。

費勒早年在Institut Le Rosey學校讀書。^[2]

1933年，他畢業於普林斯頓大學，在學校他創作了畢業論文「法國自然主義和Emilia Pardo Bazán」，他是普林斯頓三角俱樂部的成員之一。
