功能

腎素 - 血管收縮素 - 醛固酮系統示意圖

腎素 - 血管收縮素系統的解剖圖，顯示出血管收縮素Ⅰ轉化酶在肺中的作用

主要功能有以下兩個：

• 催化血管緊張素I轉化為血管緊張素II；
• 使緩激肽失活。

血管緊張素轉化酶因這兩種功能而成為治療高血壓、心力衰竭、2型糖尿病和糖尿病腎病等疾病的理想靶點。血管緊張素轉化酶抑制劑能減少血管緊張素II的生成，並增加緩激肽的活性。

此外，ACE也能催化血管緊張素-(1-9)轉化為血管緊張素-(1-7)。
