馬克·惠托

馬克·惠托（英語：Mark Whittow，1957年8月24日^[1]—2017年12月23日），英國史學家、考古學家，專門研究拜占庭帝國。他是牛津大學的講師、牛津大學基督聖體學院的拜占庭學研究員^[2][3][4]。

生平

惠托出生於劍橋^[5]。先是在牛津大學三一學院學習現代史，後獲得拜占庭史與考古學博士學位^[2]。

惠托曾在牛津大學奧里爾學院任研究員、講師，在雷丁大學、倫敦國王學院任過教職，1998年回到牛津，在聖彼得學院任歷史研究員、講師，2009年又轉任基督聖體學院研究員、拜占庭學講師^[2][6]。2017年11月，他當選下一任牛津大學奧里爾學院教務長，預計於2018年9月上任^[7][8]。

2017年12月23日深夜，他在牛津郡駕車遭遇交通事故而喪生^[6]。
