農曆九月，也稱菊月，是農曆一年中第九個月份（如果之前沒有閏月），季秋，暮秋、菊月，建戌之月（狗月），律中無射，以霜降為中氣。
九月秋高氣爽，菊花開放，亦為收穫的季節，有金色的九月之稱。九為陽數，又為至大之數，九月九日，月日並陽，所以稱為「重陽」。
日本稱呼農曆九月為「長月」，有「夜長月」、「割稻月」等說法。[1]
