製備和性質
四茂鈾於1962年由恩斯特·奧托·菲舍爾首次製備，他使四氯化鈾與過量的環戊二烯鉀在苯中反應，並以6％的產率獲得了紅色晶體：[1][2]
- UCl4 + 4 KCp → U(Cp)4 + 4 KCl
U(Cp)4 固體對空氣穩定，但是苯溶液對空氣非常敏感.
用鈾金屬還原 U(Cp)4 可以得到三茂鈾，化學式 U(Cp)3。[1]
