化学工厂

化学工厂（英文：Chemical plant），亦称化工厂，为进行化学品制造、加工及处理的工厂。化工厂常利用化学反应、生物转化、分离程序等方式，改变原物料的性质，使其产生质变或是相变，进而生产出具有高价值的制品及商品^[1][2]，另外，化工厂在制造过程中会使用专门的设备（如锅炉、蒸馏塔、反应槽^[3]等）、装置以及技术，而且生产程序的规模通常较为巨大。^[4]

位于美国维吉尼亚州西诺福克地区的巴斯夫化学朴次茅斯厂，该厂设有一条由美国联邦铁路（英语：Commonwealth Railway）所管理的运输铁路。

化工厂的种类多样，包含食品加工、日常必需品、工业材料、航天材料、生物化学、废水处理、饮用水处理、天然气处理（英语：Natural-gas processing）、石化工业、石油精炼、油漆、氯碱及其他精练（英语：Refinery）等。^[5]
