威廉·坚

威廉·坚（又译金尼；英文：William Caine，1799年3月17日－1871年9月19日），出生于爱尔兰，于鸦片战争时，为英国军队第26团上尉。英国占领香港岛后，由于行政官义律需要一名对中国法律稍有认识的军官作为法官，威廉·坚被认为是最适合的人选，于1841年4月30日成为香港政府首任裁判官，于3年后建立香港警察队，并且兼办监狱事务，直至于1859年9月离任，共服务18年，共历5朝香港总督及副香港总督。

《华友西报（英语：The Friend of China）》编辑泰伦（William Tarrant）曾经批评他的贪污行为，结果被下囚^[3]。
