绝迹语言

绝迹语言（英语：Extinct language），又称灭绝语言、灭亡语言、死语，指一种已经不再有人以之作为母语的语言。根据估计，每两星期就有一种人类的语言灭亡，变成绝迹语言。^[1]

但在一些特殊情况中，某些国家需借助之前已灭亡国家的名义来保持自己的势力及合法性，此时与该灭亡国家有关的绝迹语言就得以持续被使用在科学、律法、宗教等各种方面，从而保存下来，并继续以非母语的方式使用。例如拉丁语与古希腊语被用来造科学方面的新词，而其他如古教会斯拉夫语、阿维斯陀语、科普特语及吉兹语等则仍然用于宗教仪式或文学作品中。

其他有些组织则会为了特定情境、文化的气氛营造，而偶尔使用这些绝迹语言，例如美国童军就会在他们一个童军仪式“圣箭盟”里使用一种北美印地安人的绝迹语言伦尼莱纳佩语。^[2][3][4]

2. 阿岱语（Adai）：（19世纪末叶）
3. 阿卡波语（Aka-Bo）：Boa Sr（2010年）
4. 埃雅克语（属于纳－德内语系）：玛丽·史密斯·琼斯（英语：Marie Smith Jones）（2008年1月21日）^[5]
5. 格陵兰诺尔斯语：（至15世纪末叶，最晚至16世纪）
6. 北波莫语：（1994年）
7. 瓦波语：劳拉·费雪·索莫萨（Laura Fish Somersal，1990年逝世）
8. 威托语（Weyto）：有证明最后的母语使用者于1770年仍存在，不过18世纪的探险家却找不到流利的说话人。
9. 维约特语（Wiyot）：Della Prince（1962年）
10. 亚纳语（Yana）：依喜（1916年）
11. 约拉语：中古英语的分支（19世纪中叶）
