选区(英语:Electoral district),即“选举区”的简称,是在选举时,投票制度组织划分选民投票转换成议席的单位,实际上不单单以地区形式出现。除了考量地区或人口分布的“区域代表制”(Geographical Representation)之外,另有从职业团体选出的“职业代表制”(Professional Representation),选区划分的选民基础也有所不同。[1]






  • 小选区制,又称单一选区制
    • 划分方式详细程度以较小的基层行政区为主,常见于国家议会等级的选举,例如日本东京都有25个众议员。
    • 选区划分通常较详细,例如前述的其中世田谷区大部分位于第6区,少部分位于第5区。
  • 复数选区制
    • 划分方式以较多的基层行政区为主,常见于地方议会等级的选举,例如日本东京都议会有127个议员,大多为复数选区。
    • 选区划分相对较简单,例如前述议会中其中世田谷区以全区为单位,选出8位议员。
