阴茎根是阴茎较靠近人体，在会阴内的部分。阴茎的其他部位（阴茎体（英语：Body of penis））是在耻骨联合外，而阴茎根和和耻骨的耻骨弓（英语：pubic arch）连接，无法用肉眼看到。阴茎根包括三个勃起组织（英语：erectile tissue），在两侧的是阴茎脚，一边一个，以及在中间的阴茎球（英语：Bulb of penis）^[1]^[2]。阴茎约有三分之一到一半是在骨盆内，可以透过阴囊或是会阴感觉到^[3]。

阴茎脚是由坐骨海绵体肌（英语：Ischiocavernosus muscle）包覆，而尿道球是由球海绵体肌（英语：Bulbospongiosus）包覆。

阴茎根位在会阴部位，位在泌尿生殖隔膜（英语：urogenital diaphragm）的下筋膜及柯尔氏筋膜（英语：fascia of Colles）之间。

阴茎根和筋膜及下耻骨支（英语：Inferior pubic ramus）相连，也受系韧带（英语：fundiform）及阴茎悬韧带（英语：suspensory ligament of penis）约束在耻骨联合的前方。

系韧带由腹直肌的腱鞘前面以及腹白线（英语：linea alba (abdomen)）延伸，会分为两束围绕阴茎根
阴茎悬韧带（英语：suspensory ligament of penis）的上方纤维束会穿过腹白线下缘的下方，下方纤维束会穿过会从耻骨联合延伸。二个纤维束会组成强力的纤维带，延伸到阴茎根的上表面，和阴茎的筋膜鞘融合。
