哈里什-錢德拉

哈里什-錢德拉（Harish-Chandra Mehrotra，1923年10月11日—1983年10月16日），印裔美國數學家、物理學家。

生平

哈里什-錢德拉生於英屬印度坎普爾（今屬北方邦），曾擔任物理學家保羅·狄拉克的助手，與外爾、韋伊、扎里斯基等大數學家都有過接觸。哈里什-錢德拉在李群表示論方面做了許多開創性的工作^[3][4][5]，這使得他1954和1966年能兩度在國際數學家大會報告。1973年成為英國皇家學會會員，1974年獲得印度科學院拉馬努金獎章。

美籍加拿大數學家羅伯特·朗蘭茲在評論哈里什-錢德拉時說：「他從事數學相對較晚，且有很多數學領域他從未認真涉獵過. 可以毫不誇張地說，他在需要的時候就自己製造工具，一個本世紀宏偉的數學理論是被一個只學過高等微積分課程的人構造出來的！」。
