甲基紅色桿菌屬

甲基紅色桿菌屬（學名：Methylorubrum）是甲基桿菌科的一個屬。此屬的物種是革蘭氏陰性（或可變）、不產生孢子、氧化酶陽性、過氧化氫酶陽性、脲酶陽性、嚴格需氧的桿狀細菌。此屬的物種細胞尺寸為0.5至1.5×1.0至10.0µm，並且大多數物種以單極、亞極或側鞭毛來運動。該屬的模式種為扭脫甲基紅色桿菌（Methylorubrum extorquens）。^[1][3]

詞源

「Methylorubrum」一詞由「Methylo-」和「rubrum」組成。前綴「Methylo-」來自拉丁語「methylum」，指甲基自由基，所以「methylo-」表示與甲基自由基有關。「Rubrum」來自拉丁語「ruber」，表示紅色。因此，「Methylorubrum」一詞表示一種利用紅色甲基自由基的微生物。^[1]

歷史

在甲基桿菌屬被建立之後，物種的數量越來越多。彼得·格林（Peter N. Green）和朱莉·阿德利（Julie K. Ardley）​兩人使用16S rRNA基因測試後發現有一部分物種不該被歸類為甲基桿菌屬的物種。2018年，他們二人創建了甲基紅色桿菌屬並把甲基桿菌屬的11個物種移動至該屬。^[3]

1984年，原單胞菌屬（Protomonas）被建立。^[4]隔年，該屬的唯一物種被整併入甲基桿菌屬（Methylobacterium）。^[5]2018年，隨著甲基桿菌屬的重新分類，原先原單胞菌屬的唯一物種也隨著其他物種被納入此屬。因此原單胞菌屬成了此屬的異名。^[3]
