埃迪特·施泰因

聖十字德蘭本篤（St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross，1891年10月12日—1942年8月9日），原名埃迪特·施泰因（Edith Stein)，德國猶太裔現象學哲學家、赤足加爾默羅隱修會修女。1942年在奧斯威辛集中營被送進毒氣室致命。1998年10月11日被教宗若望·保祿二世冊封為聖人，瞻禮（紀念日）為8月9日。^[2]

生平

埃迪特·施泰因1891年出生於德國布列斯勞的猶太人富商家庭。由於她是家中11個孩子中最年幼的，並且在希伯來曆中最神聖的一天贖罪日出生，她深得母親喜愛。她的父親在她幼年時去世，母親獨自支撐家庭，並給予她完整的教育，將她送到弗羅茨瓦夫大學學習哲學、心理學、歷史及德文。^[3]

埃迪特1913年前往哥廷根，成為胡塞爾的學生。1916年在胡塞爾的指導下完成以「同理心」（Empathy）與胡塞爾的現象學為題的論文，在佛萊堡大學取得哲學博士學位，之後成為胡塞爾的助教。她後來曾四次爭取大學教席，但因為是女性而沒有得到胡塞爾的支持。

1921年暑假，她閱讀聖德蘭·亞維拉的自傳後，深受感動，並於翌年受洗為天主教徒。1933年，她加入了赤足加爾默羅隱修會（聖衣會），成為修女。

納粹黨奪取德國政權後開始迫害猶太人，最後她於1942年在奧斯威辛集中營，與同伴在瓦斯室被毒氣致死。^[3][4]

1998年10月11日，她被教宗若望·保祿二世冊封為聖人。
