麥米倫曾分別在1959年10月、1960年7月、1961年10月和1962年7月對內閣進行改組，當中以1962年的內閣改組規模最大，有約三分一的閣員遭到撤換，史稱為「長刀之夜」（The Night of the Long Knives）。
