Rietfontein is 'n dorp in die Noord-Kaap en 'n grenspos tussen Suid-Afrika en Namibië. Hier is ook 'n sendingstasie van die NG Kerk. Die grenspos is daagliks oop van 08:00 tot 16:30. Daar is verskeie panne in die omgewing, soos Hakskeenpan, Uitsakpan en Koppieskraalpan.

Die sendingstasie Rietfontein, wat in Khoikhoi bekendstaan as Aakaap, is in 1801 deur William Anderson (1769–1852) en Johannes Jacobus Kicherer (1775–1825) van die Londense Sendinggenootskap gestig. Rietfontein is 'n vertaling van die Khoikhoi-naam, wat bestaan uit a (riet) en /ab (poel of fontein).
Elsie Vaalbooi, 'n lid van die ǂKhomani (Nǁnǂe) San of Boesmans en van die laaste sprekers van die Nǁng taal het hier grootgeword.
