The Hawks made it to their fourth straight postseason appearance and third straight play-in berth, as the No. 10 seed. The team lost in the first stage 9-10 game to the Chicago Bulls, 131–116. They became the first team to qualify for postseason and win the NBA Draft Lottery without a trade, as NBA rules state the four teams eliminated in the first stage of postseason (play-in) participate in the Draft Lottery.
