Adriaterhavet[lower-alpha 1] er en del av Middelhavet som ligger nord for Otrantostredet mellom Puglia i Italia og Vlorëbukta i Albania. Sør for stredet ligger Det joniske hav. Det strekker seg til Trieste i nord. På vestsiden ligger Italia, mens på østsiden ligger Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia-Hercegovina (som har en 21 km lang kystlinje), Kroatia og Slovenia. De viktigste havnebyene langs Adriaterhavet er Venezia, Rimini, Trieste, Rijeka, Split, Dubrovnik og Durrës. Det største dypet på 1 324 m finnes i sør.
