The 34th G8 summit was a meeting in 2008 for the leaders of Canada, the European Commission, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States.[1]
This meeting of the Group of Eight (G8) was the 34th meeting in a series which began in 1976. The G8 and the summit are part of a "consultative process and not an international organization".[2]
The meeting took place in Japan at Tōyako (洞爺湖, Tōya-ko) on the northern island of Hokkaidō. The international group of leaders met from July 7–9, 2008.[3]
