'n Koekepan (ook bekend as 'n ghollowan vanaf die Xhosawoord ingolovane), is 'n klein spoorgebonde waentjie of trollie. Dit word gebruik vir die vervoer, meestal oor korter afstande, van erts, steenkool, gruis, grond, klippe, sand, graan, vrugte, suikerriet, en dies meer.
'n Koekepan kan met die hand of deur 'n lokomotief getrek of gestoot word, en kan ook aanmekaar geskakel word om 'n trein te vorm. Vervoer oor ongelyke terrein deur middel van 'n sweefspoor of lugkabel kom ook voor. Hiervoor kan 'n dwarsbalk met 'n pen daaraan gebruik word. Leë koekepanne op staalwiele wat op spore loop, weeg sowat twee ton en kan tot vier ton rots vervoer.[1]
Dit word van metaal vervaardig, met 'n stewige onderstel en vier geflensde wiele. Die oop metaalbak is bo reghoekig gevorm met 'n U-vorm na onder. Soms is daar klappe vir storting van die vrag.
Die oorsprong van die woord koekepan is onduidelik. Wat wel taamlik seker is, is dat die woord sy eerste verskyning op die Suid-Afrikaanse myne gemaak het. Dit laat die vermoede ontstaan dat koekepan 'n vervorming is van die Zoeloewoord ingqukubhana (wat na dieselfde voorwerp verwys)[2] om te klink soos die Nederlandse koekepan (of koekenpan): 'n pan waarin koek gebak word.[3] So gesien is dit dus 'n volksetimologiese vervorming.
