Guinea ye a denominación tradicional d'a rechión d'Africa que bi ha en a redolata d'o Golfo de Guinea. Por o norte o suyo territorio incluye as rechions de sabana y selva tropical y remata en o Sahel.

Historicament, esta rechión estió una d'as primeras parz de l'Africa subsahariana en comerciar con os europeus. O trafico extensivo de vori, oro y esclaus fació prospera a esta rechión, con uns cuantos reinos centralizatos desembolicando-sen en os sieglos XVIII y XIX. A etimolochía de "Guinea" ye dubdosa, pero ye intresant dende o punto de vista d'a lingüistica aragonesa porque se relaciona con a parola "aguineu", que presenta en aragonés tota una serie de significatos peyorativos, por eixemplo en aragonés d'o Viello Sobrarbe se diz mal aguineu a un enredaire que no para, en l'aragonés de Sierra Ferrera se diz aguineu pa belún que se precipita a fer cosas con poco chuicio u belún que ye flaco, y en chistabín belún que no te'n puez fiar (ser piyor que l'aguineu), como tamién en fovano; tamién se diz aguineu en bel puesto a lo muixón Delichon urbicus.
Os idiomas occidentals latinos y chermanicos prenen o termin Guinea dreitament d'a parola portuguesa Guiné, que amaneixió a meyatos d'o sieglo XV pa referir-se a las tierras habitatas por os "guineus", o termin cheneral pa dicir a los pueblos de raza negra situatos a lo sud d'o río Senegal, en oposición a los tawny, u zenagas, un pueblo berber establitos a lo norte y continadors de l'antiga Confederación Zenacha d'os salioron os almurabiz. Estos berbers yeran ditos en os idiomas occidentals zenagas u moros en ixos tiempos.
O termin "Guinea" se fa servir amplament en a cronica de Gomes Eanes de Zurara de l'anyo 1453,[1] O rei Chuan II de Portugal prenió o títol de Senhor da Guiné ("Sinyor de Guinea") dende 1483. Se creye que os portugueses amproron o termin Guineus d'o berber Ghinawen (a vegatas arabizato como Guinauha u Genewah), que significa "a chent cremata". O termin qināwa fue adaptato por os romances de levant como guineu u aguineu, en catalán stándard significa "rabosa", significato que tamién documenta Rafel Vidaller Tricas en grausín en continuidat con o catalán ribagorzano. Manimenos en catalán oriental guinea significa "estrapalucio", "desorden", "chilos", ecetra. En portugués guineia significa "baralla verbal", "discusión".
