য়াজিদিসকল প্ৰধানকৈ কূৰ্দিছ ভাষী। তেওঁলোকৰ ধৰ্ম ইৰাণী ধৰ্মসমূহৰ এটা আৰু ই মেছ'পটেমিয়াৰ ধৰ্মীয় বিশ্বাস তথা খ্ৰীষ্টান আৰু ইছলাম ধৰ্মৰ বিভিন্ন উপাদানৰ সানমিহলি হৈ গঠন হোৱা। কূৰ্দিছৰ লগতে য়াজিদিসকলৰ বহুতেই আৰবী ভাষা ব্যৱহাৰ কৰে। তেওঁলোকৰ প্ৰধান তীৰ্থস্থান হৈছে মছুল (Mosul) ৰ উত্তৰ-পূবত থকা লালিছ (Lalish) নামৰ অঞ্চলটো।
য়াজিদিসকলে ঈশ্বৰক পৃথিৱীৰ স্ৰষ্টা জ্ঞান কৰে। ঈশ্বৰৰ অধীনত সাতগৰাকী দেৱী ("holy beings" or angels) এ পৃথিৱীৰ চোৱাচিতা কৰে বুলি ধাৰণা কৰা হয়। ইয়াৰে এগৰাকী হৈছে মেলেক টাওছ (Melek Taus) যাক ময়ূৰ দেৱী ("Peacock Angel") বুলি কোৱা হয়।[13]
য়াজিদিসকলৰ সৰহসংখ্যকেই ইৰাকত বাস কৰে। ইৰকৰ জনসংখ্যাৰ সংখ্যলঘুসকলৰ ভিতৰত য়াজিদিসকল অন্যতম।[1] এওঁলোকৰ বৰ্তমানৰ জনসংখ্যা ৭০,০০০-৫০০,০০০ বুলি অনুমান কৰা হয়। তেওঁলোক প্ৰধানকৈ উত্তৰ ইৰাকৰ Neneveh province ত বসবাস কৰে। শ্বেখান (Shekhan), উত্তৰ-পূব মছুল ( Mosul) আৰু চিনজাৰ (Sinjar) এওঁলোকৰ সংখ্যা অধিক। বিংশশতিকাত চিনজাৰবাসীসকলৰ সৈতে শ্বেখানবাসী য়াজিদিসকলে ক্ষমতাৰ বাবে যুঁজ দিবগীয়াত পৰে।[1] ২০০৩ চনত আৰম্ভ হোৱা ইৰাক যুদ্ধ আৰু ছাদ্দাম হুছেইনৰ পতনৰ পিছৰ পৰা য়াজিদিসকল নানা সংকটৰ সন্মুখীন হৈছে আৰু তেওঁলোকৰ সমগ্ৰ আন্তঃগাঁথনিৰ বিস্তৰ পৰিৱৰ্ত্তন সাধন হৈছে।[1]
ইৰাক যুদ্ধৰ আৰম্ভণিৰ পিছত ২০০৭ চনৰ আগষ্টত কাহটানিয়া (Qahtaniya) নামৰ অঞ্চলটোত হোৱা নিৰ্বিচাৰ বোমা বিস্ফোৰণত প্ৰায় ৫০০ য়াজিদি লোক মৃত্যুমুখত পৰে। ২০০৯ চনৰ আগষ্টত উত্তৰ ইৰাকত ঘটা অন্য এটা আত্মঘাতী বোমা বিস্ফোৰণত কমেও ২০জন য়াজিদিৰ মৃত্যু হয় আৰু অন্য বহুতো লোক আঘাতপ্ৰাপ্ত হয়।[14]
