Biografía

Debutó como comediante na radio mientres los años 1940, enantes de pasase a la televisión nel horariu nocherniegu, onde creó y presentó The Tonight Show (1953–1957) y The Steve Allen Show (1957–1960). Foi anfitrión d'otros tantos programes televisivos como Meeting of Minds, que dirixó dende 1977 hasta 1981.

Compunxo más de 3.000 cantares como Picnic y Impossible, apaeciendo tamién en películes como The Benny Goodman Story de 1956 y The Sunshine Boys de 1975.

Finó d'un infartu al corazón.
