825—898 соназ ХӀамаданалда хӀукумат гьабулеб букӀана исламияб Дулафидазул династия. Династиялъе кьучӀ лъурав — Абу Дулаф (825 — гӀ.-ш. 840) вукӀана гӀаббасидав халип ал-Мамуница (813—817) ХӀамаданалда тарав сардарлъун. Побывавший в начале XX века в городе Абрахам Джексон[en] отмечал наличие в городе армянского и еврейского кварталов[10].
Сельджуки в начале XII века переместили столицу из Исфахана в ХӀамадан (1118—1194).
В 1724 году ХӀамадан защищался против Осман, но город был взят. Большая часть населения была вырезана Османами, которые также разрушили значительную часть города[11].

1997 соналъ этническом составе преобладали персы, также представлены азербайджанцы и луры[9].
