Mary Higgins Clark

Mary Higgins Clark (24. decembar 1927 – 31. januar 2020) bila je spisateljka najprodavanijih romana misterije i intrige u SAD-u.^[1]

Rođena je u New York Cityju. Otac joj je umro, kada je imala 10 godina. Po završetku srednje škole, Mary upisuje sekretarijatsku školu, te počinje raditi u reklamnoj agenciji. 1949. je počela raditi kao stjuardesa za kompaniju Pan American Airlines. Ubrzo se udala za svog susjeda Warrena Clarka.

Počela je pisati kratke priče ubrzo poslije vjenčanja, te je objavila svoje prve priče u magazinu Extension 1956. Muž joj je umro 1964, i Mary je ostala s petero djece. Tada je Mary počela pisati radio scenarije i kasnije, knjige. Njena prva knjiga, biografski roman o Georgeu Washingtonu je loše prošao na tržištu, ali njen roman Gdje su djeca? iz 1975. je postao najprodavaniji u to doba.

Pohađala je Fordham Univerzitet od 1974. do 1979, gdje je studirala filozofiju.

Ponovo se udala 1996. za Johna Conheeneya.

Njena kćerka, Carol Higgins Clark, i bratova žena, Mary Jane Clark, su također pisci romana misterije.
