Aderyn a rhywogaeth o adar trofannol yw Ceiliog coedwig coch (sy'n enw gwrywaidd; enw lluosog: ceiliogod coedwig cochion) a adnabyddir hefyd gyda'i enw gwyddonol Gallus gallus; yr enw Saesneg arno yw Red jungle-fowl. Mae'n perthyn i deulu'r Ffesantod (Lladin: Phasianidae) sydd yn urdd y Galliformes.[1] Dyma brif cenhedlwr yr iâr gyffredin a ddofwyd yn gyntaf dros bum mil o flynyddoedd yn ôl yn Asia.
