Monthelon liegt etwa 31 Kilometer südsüdwestlich von Reims. Umgeben wird Monthelon von den Nachbargemeinden Chavot-Courcourt im Norden und Westen, Moussy im Norden und Nordosten, Pierry im Nordosten, Cuis im Osten, Mancy im Süden sowie Morangis im Südwesten.
