The 2022–23 National League 2 West was the first season of the fourth-tier (west) of the English domestic rugby union competitions; one of three at this level. The others are National League 2 North and National League 2 East. Previously, there were two leagues at level four; National League 2 North and National League 2 South.[1] The champions are promoted to National League 1. The bottom two teams are relegated to Regional 1 Midlands or Regional 1 South West depending on location.

Leicester Lions became champions, with three matches to play, following their 33 – 5 win over Loughborough Students on 25 March 2023.[2]
Barnstaple (13th place) and Stourbridge (14th) are relegated to Regional 1 South West and Regional 1 Midlands respectively.
The league consists of fourteen teams who play the others on a home and away basis, to make a total of 26 matches each. The champions are promoted to National League 1. The bottom two teams are relegated
to Regional 1 Midlands or Regional 1 South West.[3]
The results of the matches contribute points to the league as follows:
- 4 points are awarded for a win
- 2 points are awarded for a draw
- 0 points are awarded for a loss, however
- 1 losing (bonus) point is awarded to a team that loses a match by 7 points or fewer
- 1 additional (bonus) point is awarded to a team scoring 4 tries or more in a match.

Game cancelled as Stourbridge could not raise a team. Reverse fixture on 1st April 2023 switched from Stourton park to Westleigh Park.[17]
Originally this was a home fixture for Stourbridge but it was switched after the Leicester Lions v Stourbridge game on 3 December 2022 was cancelled after Stourbridge could not raise a team.[17]
Exeter University only played 12 home games as their fixture versus Bournville on 6 May 2023 was cancelled.
There was no record of the attendance for Hornets home game versus Barnstaple on 10 September 2022.
There was no record of the attendance for Loughborough Students home game versus Newport (Salop) on 28 January 2023.
