Joel Marciano Jr.

Joel Joseph Sacro Marciano Jr. is a Filipino engineer, academic and the first and current Director General of the Philippine Space Agency, a government agency under the Office of the President in charge of the Philippines' national space program.[1]

Prior to his appointment as PhilSA administrator, Marciano served as acting Director of the Advanced Science and Technology Institute of the Philippine Department of Science and Technology.[2] He is also a university professor at the University of the Philippines College of Engineering since 1994.[3] Marciano has also served as the program head of the Philippine Scientific Earth Observation Microsatellite program (PHL-Microsat) that launched the first Philippine-made satellite, the Diwata-1, into space in April 2016.[4]
