Tione Jayden Merritt[needs IPA] (born April 30, 2001), known professionally as Lil Tjay (/ˈtiːdʒeɪ/ TEE-jay),[1] is an American rapper. He rose to prominence in 2017 with the song "Resume", and then the release of his breakthrough song "Brothers" which led to a record deal with Columbia Records, also in 2017. His debut studio album, True 2 Myself, was released in 2019 and debuted at number 5 on the Billboard 200, marking the album his first charting project. The following year, he released the mixtape State of Emergency, that featured only drill artists from New York City.
