Narovchatsky District

Narovchatsky District (Russian: Наровча́тский райо́н) is an administrative^[1] and municipal^[4] district (raion), one of the twenty-seven in Penza Oblast, Russia. It is located in the northwest of the oblast. The area of the district is 956.9 square kilometers (369.5 sq mi).^[2] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Narovchat.^[1] Population: 12,069 (2010 Census);^[3] 13,839 (2002 Census);^[6] 15,718 (1989 Soviet census).^[7] The population of Narovchat accounts for 34.8% of the district's total population.^[3]
