Narovchatsky District (Russian: Наровча́тский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[4] district (raion), one of the twenty-seven in Penza Oblast, Russia. It is located in the northwest of the oblast. The area of the district is 956.9 square kilometers (369.5 sq mi).[2] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Narovchat.[1] Population: 12,069 (2010 Census);[3] 13,839(2002 Census);[6] 15,718(1989 Soviet census).[7] The population of Narovchat accounts for 34.8% of the district's total population.[3]
