- 10 May – An expedition led by Admiral Ove Gjedde arrives in Ceylon
- 19 November – The Tranquebar Treaty is signed with the Nayak of Tanjore, giving Denmark possession of Tharangambadi (Danish: Trankebar) and the right to construct Fort Dansborg.[2]
